Congratulations to our customers, Emmanuel Reffin and his son Ludovic Frey, whose bakery in La Rochelle (17) was officially recognized as the “world’s smallest bakery” by the Guinness World Records on Monday, May 16.

In fact, the bakery “L’Ami du Pain, conveniently located at the corner of Rue du Cordouan in downtown La Rochelle, has a storefront that is only 1.15 meters wide. The shop is on a street adjacent to Les Halles, where Mr. Reffin also has a market stall.

“After passing the assessment of the sixteen criteria, the British authors of the famous book officially awarded the record on Saint Honoré’s Day, the patron saint of bakers: quite symbolic! “As a long-standing partner miller, we are very proud of this distinction!” says Serafin Domingues, area manager at Grands Moulins de Paris, who is accompanying Mr. Reffin and Mr. Frey.

The whole town turned out for the grand opening.

“This recognition by the Guinness World Records will boost our bakery’s reputation! I’m touched by the presence of the Grands Moulins de Paris team at this event and by their ongoing support over the years in helping me grow my business,” said Mr. Reffin.

Mr. Reffin has been working with the Grands Moulins de Paris team for over 10 years. The transaction and financing advisors have supported him since he first set up shop in Chaillé-les-Marais (85), a store he still owns. His next project: a bakery in Saint-Rogatien (17), which is scheduled to open by the end of the year!
