“TABLE”: Our Approach to Responsible Food

In 2019, to mark its centennial, Grands Moulins de Paris launched its initiative for responsible eating, “A table.”

For several years now, consumers have been seeking transparency and authenticity. In fact, 86% of French people say they have high expectations regarding information about the products they buy*, and 89% say they prefer products from their region**.

Our "A table" initiative is forward-looking and based on three strong commitments to meet the aspirations of French consumers and guide the company’s actions toward responsible food production.

Grands Moulins de Paris' Commitments

Our three commitments are:

  Help build a healthier future;

  Eat a balanced diet;

  Improve the quality of life for our employees and customers.

Contributing to a healthier future

Our primary goal is to make agricultural production more environmentally friendly. In 2020, we have already achieved two objectives:

  100% of the wheat grains used in the mills are stored without insecticides.

  Two of our mills produce organic flour made from French organic wheat.

To transport the wheat to our mills, we prioritize eco-friendly transportation: up to 60% is transported by barge and up to 90% by train, depending on the mill.

Finally, for our flours and miller’s mixes, the secondary packaging made of paper and cardboard is produced entirely from recycled materials.

Eating a balanced diet

Our recipes are designed to fit easily into a balanced diet. We prioritize familiar, trusted ingredients while striving for innovation and continuous improvement.

Our goals achieved:

  The colorings and flavorings included in our baking mixes have been of natural origin since May 2018.

  Since September 2018, our Tradition flours have contained only wheat-based ingredients.

Improving the quality of life for our employees and customers

Because the safety of our employees is our top priority, we are implementing risk prevention measures to become a “zero-accident” company through our CARE program. In addition, 100% of our employees now have access to an ethics reporting system.

A better quality of life for everyone also depends on a more responsible approach to our sourcing. The wheat used in our eight regional mills comes exclusively from France and is grown primarily within a 125-kilometer radius. LaCampaillette Grand Siècle, produced at the Paris-Gennevilliers mill, is made entirely from wheat grown in the Île-de-France region.

Together, and with the enthusiasm that defines us, we are shaping the future of Grands Moulins de Paris and the world we live in!
