The development of wheat supply chains: a key focus of our strategy

Drawing on over a century of milling expertise, and as part of our “A TABLE” initiative for responsible nutrition, we are committed, harvest after harvest, to selecting and blending wheat varieties that best meet our customers’ needs.

Our sourcing policy is based in particular on multi-year commitment agreements with our partners: the aim is, on the one hand, to ensure long-term market access for the farmers who work with us and, on the other hand, to guarantee a steady supply of high-quality products to our customers, providing them with security and predictability.

We manage various supply chains for selecting wheat varieties used in the production of our flours. This involves dedicated storage facilities, separate production lines, and specific quality control plans—all to ensure full traceability.

June is the time of year when we typically visit our trial fields. This is an important step in validating the wheat varieties selected in collaboration with our supplier farmers. Our goal is to select the most suitable wheat variety: we must balance low environmental impact with appropriate quality to meet the technological and sensory characteristics sought by our customers based on the intended uses of the flour.

Our involvement in supply chain initiatives dates back to the 2000s, with the creation of a French durum wheat supply chain designed to replace the American durum wheat traditionally used in the production of specialty bread rolls.
Since then, the development of supply chains has remained at the heart of Grands Moulins de Paris’s strategy.
